Puppy-sitting

I've been wanting a puppy for a very long time. My dad basically hates any animal that can't be contained in a fish tank so we never had anything other than fish. I live in a no-pet apartment and that means I only want one more. Haha.

Anyway, my friend NB and her husband JB got super sick last week and asked me to puppy sit. They had only had Hoover for about 4 days so he has like no training whatsoever. He's in the process of being potty trained though and so he didn't make a mess.

Hoover's super cute, and that's why he's forgiven so easily. He's a dachshund, so he's very short and only about 2 months old.

He kept chewing on everything on his level, so I had to put away all the shoes and shut the closets and such. To keep him entertained, I sat on the floor and made him do circles around me chasing one of his toys. Then we played tug of war for a little bit. He loved the laser pointer too. He chased that around the living room for a while.

After that, I took him outside to go potty, and when we came back in he was cold and so he let me hold him and he fell asleep. He sleeps really well in bed. He slept the whole time. We got up early and took him out again, and then we all went back to sleep for a few more hours.

Steve and I slept horribly though. We weren't used to having a little creature in our bed and we were both very aware of him. Neither of us wanted to accidentally squish him. So yeah, we didn't sleep very well.

We've decided we're not ready for a puppy. They are a lot of work. We are, however, ready for a kitten. Jasmine was just coming out of her kitten stage when we got her. Since we lived with her for a year, we know what to expect. Once we live in a place we can have pets, we'll be getting a kitten. Until then, Jasmine and Socks will just have to do.
